Local Call: “Don’t be a Knob”

“Can’t we just play a let?” As the squash ball travels at high speeds around the court, the consistency of the bounce depends on any number of things. The temperature of the ball, moisture on the wall, the angle the ball is hit and the type of spin placed on the ball are a few reasons why the ball may bounce differently this time than last time. There is however that one in a thousand time where the ball ends up shooting down the middle of the court and hitting the door handle. This leaves you bemused and stranded, with the ball ricocheting out of reach. Sadly, you can’t call a let on the door. It is a point for whomever struck the shot. The call is no let for any unusual bounce.
