2014 High School Team Squash Championships Move to Philadelphia

High School Team Champs1After the cancellation of the 2013 High School Team Squash Championships in New Haven, CT, due to the winter storm known as Nemo, over 165 squash teams around the country have their eyes set on the 2014 Championship, but this year the tournament will move for the first time to a new location.

After a storied history at Yale University, the tournament will move to various clubs in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to the move, there are several new requirements teams must adhere to in order to participate in this year’s Championships.

Teams must play a minimum of four different opponents in US Squash-accredited matches by January 26, 2014, to be eligible to participate in the championships. If a team is interested in bringing multiple teams to the Championships (i.e., School X Varsity and School x JV), all teams must adhere to the minimum number of matches and opponents policy.

By requiring matches to be played leading up to the Championships, more seeding information will be available, teams will have more opportunities to play scheduled matches, and greater value will be added to the team element of the tournament.
