John Nimick Awarded with President’s Cup

12TC20543U.S. SQUASH presented the 2011 President’s Cup to John Nimick at an award ceremony that took place during the Tournament of Champions in New York City. The President’s Cup is the highest service award the Association can bestow.

Nimick has also been recognized for his accomplishments as a great player, having been inducted into the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame in 2006. After a successful run as a touring professional, Nimick’s career in squash continued in the late ‘80s as President of the Professional Hardball Tour, known as the WPSA, followed by his leadership of the merged hardball and softball tour in the 1990’s, now called the PSA—where he was instrumental in leading the game from hardball into softball. The next stage of his career, through to the present day, Nimick has focused on being the leading professional squash event promoter in North America, including producing the U.S. Open in Boston and the Canadian Squash Classic in Toronto. His signature achievement has been the buildup of the now iconic Tournament of Champions at Grand Central Terminal, one of the most admired and anticipated events in the world by both players and fans.
