Changes to Junior Ranking Structure

Screen Shot 2014-12-18 at 10.45.55 AMU.S. SQUASH is pleased to announce several changes to the junior ranking structure to take effect this summer and fall, including adjustments to the ranking average divisor and age-up policies. These policy adjustments are a result of continued discussions with teaching professionals, players, parents, and other constituents, and follow other changes previously made to the ranking system and point allocation structure.

The ranking average minimum divisor will remain at four tournaments in a specific age division, but as of July 4th, will not begin to increase until a player has a minimum of nine played tournaments.

For players aging-up into an older age division, beginning September 19th, tournaments will only convert at 40% of their value in the younger age division. Furthermore, these tournaments will begin to drop off a player’s ranking point average as the player participates in tournaments in the older age division.

For a full description of the changes, please consult the “Junior Ranking System” section of the Junior Rules and Guidelines page on the U.S. SQUASH website. Adjustments to further improve the structure of junior squash are currently under discussion and will be announced throughout the summer.
