Urban Squash Cleveland

Urban Squash Cleveland (USC) is an emerging urban youth program with aspirations of becoming a fully-fledged NUSEA member. USC has made great strides in the past two years and is now in the position of recruiting a full time Executive Director. As long as that search is successful by the end of the spring, USC will be launching and active with the kids by the end of the summer. The board is excited to see the start date within sight and is looking forward to being able to make a difference to children’s lives for years to come.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with urban squash programs already active in the United States, such as SquashBusters or MetroSquash, they are after school programs that promote education in the classroom and health through the game of squash in urban youth. One hundred percent of the participants in all cities that are homes to urban squash graduate high school. In addition, the students pick up valuable life lessons as well as being a part of a squash team.

USC will begin its first year of operation based at Cleveland State University and will be partnering with a school just over a mile away. USC is very excited to be the chosen benefactors from both the Cleveland WISPA Classic and also the Tavern Club invitational (where Damien Mudge and Ben Gould continued their dominant season), the combined proceeds of which exceeded $15,000.
