Australian Open Returns to Super Series

It’s been well over 10 years since the last time the world’s best squash players have competed in Australia—not including the 2006 Commonwealth Games—but that will change next summer when the Australian Open reclaims its place among the elite events on the PSA and WISPA Tour calendars.

From Aug. 9-15, 2010, the Australian Open will be staged in the 2,000-seat Royal Theatre in the heart of Canberra, and will feature the $147,500 Platinum level men’s Super Series championship alongside the $56,000 Gold women’s event.

Gary Hampson, Australian Open Tournament Directory said, “The Australian Open has traditional been one of the world’s leading squash tournaments witha  ahistory of great Australian champions and the best players from overseas; and now we will be able to attract over 100 of the world’s best men and women to come to Canberra in August.”
