After three years of driving activity at a break-neck pace as U.S. SQUASH Board Chair, Jeannie Blasberg hands over the reigns at the end of June. Under Blasberg’s leadership, the Association changed its name from USSRA to U.S. SQUASH, updated its look, moved its headquarters to New York City, adopted sweeping governance changes and a three-year strategic plan, developed partnerships with the New England Interscholastic Squash Association and the College Squash Association, and started the process of restructuring its technology foundation. During her time as Chair, membership revenue increased by 66%.

Blasberg, the Association’s first female Chair in the organization’s 105-year history, served on the Board of Directors for eight years. She will continue to serve the Association nationally as the Chair of the Women’s Committee, focused on increasing the number of women playing squash at every level.

Elected as the new Board Chair is Peter R. Lasusa, Jr. who has served on the Board since 2004. Previously, Lasusa chaired the Governance Task Force from 2005-2007, which resulted in dramatic governance changes that have been widely viewed as a major leap forward in modernizing the management structure of the Association; an essential step to increase the accountability, transparency and effectiveness of the organization. Lasusa also chaired the 2008 Hall of Fame Gala Committee, which raised funds for the U.S. National Teams, and hosted the very successful Gala at the Pierre Hotel in New York City last October.
