Olympic Tidal Wave

Frank van Loon, World Squash Federation, Vice-President

“It doesn’t matter WHAT you know. What matters is WHO you know.”

Let’s try and avoid this kind of statement, though sometimes people connect better to what you would like to say, than any other combination of words. This is such an example.

The more people we know, the greater the chance we have of whispering our message into a willing ear.

It’s like throwing a stone into water. It doesn’t immediately deliver a wave of changed minds, but the swell causes ripples further and further. More stones, more ripples, more reach.

They say that we are never more than six contacts away from anyone who we would like to reach. A CEO of a multinational; for me, the Royal Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands; or IOC president Mr. Rogge. It all starts with that one stone, that one ripple in the water.

The bid team is geared up to deliver the message in Denver for the Sport Accord event. Our Ambassadors are throwing rocks the size of Gibraltar into the water and on the 23rd of May the popular World Squash Day is being re-branded as Squash 2016 Day as National Federations all over the globe organize a massive program of events.

Therefore, start throwing stones! An overwhelming voice needs to reach all—ALL—IOC members.

“Squash Deserves to be Olympic!” Let it be known!
