Family Hike—to 19,340 Feet

Chris Burrows, nationally prominent squash player and accomplished mountaineer who summited Mt. Everest a year ago, was up to it again in August when he and his family tackled Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Their week-long climb culminated in a summit of Kilimanjaro 19,340’, on August 9, 2008. Cole (12) Lilly (14), Kristen (16), and parents Leslie and Chris enjoyed the views of the Tanzanian plains. This was the fourth of the seven summits for Chris, who in July summited Mt. Rainier with daughter Lilly and heads off to Antarctica in November for another climb, Vinson Massif.

By the way, the Burrows family was climbing for more than personal pride and family togetherness. In the process, they were also climbing in support of Climb for a Cure, a fundraising effort to fight breast cancer.
