Three U.S. squash coaches were awarded ‘Coach of the Year’ honors by the United States Olympic Committee—Margie Hauer (Volunteer), Peter Heffernan (Developmental) and Chris Walker (National).

Heffernan, the head squash professional at the Meadow Mill Athletic Club, has launched multiple high school programs in the Baltimore area. In addition, Heffernan started the Baltimore urban program and runs a public junior program with over 100 participants.

Walker, who coached un-seeded Julian Illingworth to a silver medal and Natalie Grainger to a gold medal at the 2007 Pan-American Games, also led the U.S. to a 14th place finish, their 2nd best result ever, at the 2007 World Men’s Team Championships.
