At the eastern tip of Long Island there is “Squash in the Hamptons” at the Elmaleh-Stanton Squash Center that opened up in Southampton in 2007. Now there is “Squash with a View” much closer to Manhattan at the brand-spankin’ new City View Racquet Club.
Opened in late April on the rooftop of Long Island City’s iconic 1930s Swingline Stapler Building, City View Racquet Club is welcoming tennis and squash enthusiasts with seven Har-Tru tennis courts (that’s clay courts to you and me) and three international singles squash courts along with one hardball doubles court.
Built at a cost of over $10 million, the CityView Racquet Club is an 80,000 square foot, luxurious tennis, squash and fitness facility that includes a full-service spa, cafe, light food and cocktail lounge—and a killer view of Midtown Manhattan (especially from the lounge)!

Mike Weston is the Squash Director offering private and group instruction, stroke production training, tournaments, and partner match-ups on the club’s multi-colored glass-backed courts.
The on-site pro shop offers plenty of gear and customized stringing services for both tennis and squash racquets.
In the locker rooms you’ll find saunas (including porthole-shaped views of Manhattan), steam rooms, and double-size keypad lockers to accommodate your racquets and other equipment.
If you’re interested, don’t waste time to check it out. Membership at CityView will be limited. For more info, visit www.cityviewracquet.com.
