Sea Island Resorts, located on the Georgia coast, marked the beginning of the 2007-08 North American doubles schedule when it hosted the inaugural National Sibling Doubles Championship, October 6-8. The field reflected internationally recognized competitors, including the winning Australian brother duo, Dan and Matt Jensen, second-place brother-brother team Tim and Chris Wyant, both Sea Island members, and winning sister-sister team of Narelle Tippett Krizek and Natarsha Tippett McElhinny. Other sibling duos competing were Meredith Volmer and Paige King, Marshall and Harrison Sebring, Benay and Dana Betts along with Preston and Meredeth Quick.

“Squash is new to the South and to Sea Island so we are delighted to have hosted the first-ever National Sibling Doubles Squash Championships. To attract the caliber of players we have in our first-ever event is extremely promising for the future of the tournament, the Sea Island squash program and for the growth of squash in the South,” said Ben Gould, Sea Island’s Director of Squash. Gould, currently the No. 1 ranked hardball squash doubles champion, was a top-rated international singles competitor before his move to the United States. In May 2008, Sea Island will host the last professional doubles squash tournament of the season and the first-ever ISDA ranking event in the Southeast, the Sea Island Open.
