While most squash players have been enjoying the summer off, the business of squash just keeps rolling along. Prince Sports has been very busy signing sponsorship deals with players and events. For one, James Willstrop has jumped ship from e-Squash to sign a three-year worldwide agreement with Prince that will take him through August, 2010. The 23-year-old English No. 1 from Yorkshire, will be sporting bags, grips, strings and clothing, along with the O3 Black racquet everywhere he goes…also joining the Prince ranks is the South African World No. 42, Tenille Swartz, who will be playing with the O3 Tour…in July, Prince elevated its status as “Official Racquet” of the English Grand Prix to become the “Title Sponsor” of the 5-star PSA World Tour event. The Prince English Grand Prix was held during the first week of September, in Birmingham, at the Edgebastion Priory Club and the University of Birmingham…the College Squash Association (CSA) has been busy positioning it’s member teams for the upcoming season. In July, Harrow Sports signed a three-year agreement as the Official Equipment Supplier, covering racquets, bags, shoes, strings, eyeguards, grips, clothing and other accessories. Dave Rosen, Senior Director of Racquet Sports for Harrow, said, “Our unique ability to produce custom products—including racquets, bags and uniforms—will provide all CSA schools with a unique one-stop shop for all of their equipment needs. We will also be creating Virtual Team Stores for all CSA institutions to make this transition a smooth one.” In all, the CSA member schools include 63 men’s and 32 women’s teams.
