Capping a nearly two-year-long effort by the US Squash Governance Task Force, revised by-laws for the Association will soon be ready for approval by the US Squash Board of Directors and membership to take effect July 1, 2007.

In short, the new governance structure reduces the size of the Board in order to establish a smaller, more nimble, and effective Board of Directors and simultaneously provides for constituent-based representation through alternative mechanisms including the Annual Squash Assembly and related advisory councils, task forces and committees.

The move is widely viewed as a major leap forward in modernizing the management structure of the Association and an essential step to increase the accountability, transparency and effectiveness of the organization. This step will bring the Association in line with the broad trend of recent governance modernizations implemented by many of its peer group national sports governing bodies and the US Olympic Committee’s governance reform recommendations.

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 1, this serves as official notice of a combined US Squash Board of Directors meeting and Special Meeting of the Members to adopt the new by-laws for US Squash. The meeting will be held Thursday, June 21, in New York City from 7:00-7:30pm at the Yale Club of New York located at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue.
