They’re flying south for the…spring. Current World No. 1 Nicol David, former World No. 1 Rachael Grinham, and the woman who has won about every squash title imaginable—Sarah Fitz-Gerald—are headed to South America for the ninth annual WISPA Promotional Tour. The three will visit Argentina, Uruguay and Chile from May 30 to June 10. As in past tours, the women will play in exhibitions, participate in clinics and press conferences, and meet with the governing sports bodies in the different countries.

David and Fitz-Gerald, who went on last year’s Tour to Estonia and Norway, will have the unusual experience of having played on the most northerly and southerly squash courts on earth. Last year they played on the sole squash court in Longyearbyen, Norway, just a few hundred miles south of the North Pole. This year Fitz-Gerald, David and Grinham will become the first top players to play on the squash courts at Ushuaia in Cape Horn, the southernmost point in South America. It might not garnish them any points on the WISPA Tour, but it will definitely make for a good story to tell.
