Junior Men’s Team Coaches Selected Heath and Hamill to Lead 2008 Team

US Squash is proud to announce Martin Heath and Adam Hamill as the new Head and Assistant Coach, respectively, for the US Junior Men’s Team that will travel to the 2008 World Junior Men’s Championships to be held in Switzerland next summer.

Martin Heath is presently the Head Coach at the University of Rochester in upstate New York. Under his leadership, the U of R men’s team rose in the rankings from 25 to 16 during the season, leapfrogging from the fourth (Conroy) to the second (Hoehn) division, the highest ranking rise in college squash. As a player, Heath achieved a World Ranking of fourth on the Professional Squash Tour and remained in the top-10 for six consecutive years.

Adam Hamill is now the assistant squash teaching professional at the Germantown Cricket Club. He competed in the 2000 World Junior Championships in Milan representing Scotland. He has been a lead coach at the 2005 and 2006 US Junior Training Squads as well as at the 2006 Battle of the Border: Canadian-American Challenge.

Assistant Coach Preston Quick and Head Coach Chris Smith stepped down from their roles after the 2006 competition. Quick transitioned this season into the Head Professional position at the Union Boat Club in Boston and continues to play actively on the ISDA Tour as well as the CherryPharm Team USA Squash Tour. Smith, who transitioned to a new role at SquashBusters last fall and continues in his position as Head Coach for the Northeastern University Men’s and Women’s Teams, was also tapped by US Squash for the role of National Teams Manager where he maintains the official site (usasquashteam.com) and assists the office and stable of national coaches coordinating logistics for all aspects of team operations.
