US Junior Women’s Team Road to Hong Kong

Screen Shot 2014-12-16 at 3.28.02 PMThe top junior women in the country are currently competing for points to make Team USA to represent the US at the 12th World Junior Women’s Team and Individual Championships. The Championships take place in Hong Kong August 1-11, 2007. There are four tournaments as part of the Selection Series which offer opportunities for players to earn points: Hunter Lott Championships, U.S. Junior Open, Frank Millet Championships, and the U.S. Junior Championships.

With three of the four selection events in the books, Logan Greer and Olivia Blatchford are well positioned to automatically qualify for the National Junior Women’s team next summer. Blatchford, U15 British Junior Open champion, has finished no lower than 5th in the first three events. Greer rebounded from a disappointing 2nd round exit in the Hunter Lott to finish 3rd at the US Junior Open and won the Millet Junior Open!

The entire squad of 20 has a chance to make the team with a great performance at the (Closed) Nationals. Only 475 points separate position No. 3 from No. 12. With 1350 points up for grabs at Nationals, anything can happen! The current point standings are:
